Aredia Wilson
Hello and welcome to Ryder School Year 2023-2024. My name is Aredia Wilson, and this is my 9th year serving as a Professional School Counselor at Ryder School. I am a seasoned counselor with over a decade of experience. Drawing from my extensive experience in counseling since 2010 and my extensive tenure at Chicago Public Schools since 1995, I am eager to share insights, strategies, and best practices with students and families.
Armed with dual master's degrees in Special Education and Counseling, I bring a unique perspective to the table, one that is rooted in both academic rigor and practical application. My comprehensive understanding of diverse learning needs coupled with my adept counseling techniques allow me to tailor interventions that address the specific needs of each student. My goal for this year is not only to impart knowledge but also inspire and empower students and families to elevate their skills to better serve the diverse needs of our community.
My dedication to the profession is evident in my ongoing pursuit of excellence. As I prepare for the year, I am fueled by both excitement and a deep sense of responsibility. I am excited about the opportunity to connect with students, families, and colleagues, exchange ideas, and ultimately, make a positive difference in the lives of those I serve. It is a privilege to be part of this noble profession, and I am honored to contribute to its ongoing evolution and growth.
This year I will be utilizing Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Academic, College and Career, and Social Emotional Supports for students grades 5th-8th. I will be working collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide SEL Instruction using evidence based curriculum from Second Step. I will also use books/video/ audio and relaxation techniques as well. College and Career will be supported using Success Bound and Schoolinks.
